Wolves & White-Tailed Eagles

December 2026 – Exact Dates TBA

A 5-day immersive wildlife photography workshop in the heart of the Polish winter.

Limited to 4 photographers.

Workshop highlights

Access to Professional Hides

Three full days in carefully positioned, heated hides built specifically for photographing wolves and white-tailed eagles in natural winter conditions.

Hides are designed to minimize disturbance and maximize opportunity. Patience and discipline are part of the experience — and part of what makes the results meaningful.

Daily photography lessons

We begin with a focused theory session covering settings, autofocus strategy, exposure management and how to prepare mentally and technically for long hide sessions.

During the workshop, we’ll review images together over dinner, analyze decisions made during the day, refine technique and adjust strategy for the following day.

The goal is not just to capture a moment, but to understand why it worked.

Pre-Workshop Preparation & 1:1 Time

Before departure you will access our online platform where you’ll find resources to refine the basics, fine-tune gear, discuss expectations, ask me any questions and ensure you arrive fully prepared.

On the final day, dedicated time is reserved for 1:1 sessions and deeper photo reviews — helping you leave not only with strong images, but with clearer technical confidence and a more structured approach to wildlife photography.

Only 4 spots available for this immersive learning experience in the Polish wilderness.

PHYSICAL DIFFICULTY

There are no hikes or demanding terrain — the walk from the vehicle to the hides is short (approximately 5 minutes on flat forest paths), and hides are heated and properly equipped.

However, this is a true winter hide experience.

We enter before first light and leave after dark. Each session lasts approximately 7–8 hours and once inside, we remain in position. Movement is minimal and must be controlled (and yes, there are toilets in the hides). Patience, silence, and discipline are essential.

If you are comfortable carrying your own gear, sitting still for extended periods (you can read or listen to music/podcasts meanwhile) and embracing long stretches of focused waiting, you will thrive here.

This is less about physical endurance — and more about mental presence.

Experience

This workshop is ideal for beginner and intermediate photographers looking to build or refine their wildlife photography skills, as well as advanced photographers looking to expand their portfolios.

You’ll receive personalized support tailored to your experience level. Through a mix of structured lessons, guided photo sessions and pre-trip prep, you’ll gain confidence and walk away with stronger images and a clearer photographic vision.

What makes it special?

Proven Winter Predator Opportunities

This region of eastern Poland is one of the strongest locations in Europe for photographing wild wolves and white-tailed eagles in natural winter conditions.

The hides are professionally managed and positioned in active territories, offering realistic and repeatable opportunities — not staged encounters. Snow, open clearings, and forest edges create clean backgrounds and powerful visual separation.

Success in wildlife photography is never guaranteed — but these hides consistently deliver high-quality opportunities across the three full sessions.

And when a wolf steps into the clearing in fresh snow, you are ready.

More Than a Hide Trip

Many wildlife trips simply place you in a hide and hope for the best. Not this one. This is a structured photography workshop. Before the first session, we will refine your autofocus setup, exposure strategy for snow, burst discipline and reaction timing. During the workshop, we analyze images daily and adjust your approach based on real results.

You won’t just press the shutter. You’ll understand the decisions behind every frame.

The goal is not just strong images — but stronger awareness.

A Supportive Learning Environment

This workshop is designed for growth, not pressure. With a small group size, daily lessons and pre-trip support, you’ll feel part of a team — with room to ask questions, make mistakes and improve through direct feedback. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to refine your skills, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of wildlife photography and a stronger sense of creative direction.

What will I learn?

  • How to read natural light and choose the best exposure for different conditions

  • How to optimize your camera settings for various scenarios — from low light to fast-moving wildlife

Detailed schedule

Day 1

Participants will arrive at Warsaw Airport (WAW), where transfer to the hotel will be arranged. After check-in and a welcome introduction, we’ll begin with a focused theory session designed to prepare you for the following days.

This session will cover:

– Autofocus and settings configuration for fast-moving wildlife

– Exposure strategy in snow and winter light

– Burst discipline and timing

– Mental approach to long hide sessions

– Equipment positioning inside the hides

We will also go through practical details about hide etiquette, movement discipline, and how entry and exit in darkness works to minimize disturbance. After dinner, we’ll review the schedule for the first field session and ensure every participant is technically and mentally ready.

Overnight at the hotel.

Days 2, 3, 4

Each day follows a structured and focused rhythm.

We have breakfast and leave the hotel before sunrise and enter the hides in complete darkness. Once inside, we remain in position for approximately 7–8 hours.

Sessions typically run from first light until mid-afternoon. Entry and exit are always coordinated to ensure minimal impact on wildlife activity.

During these sessions, you will photograph:

– White-tailed eagles in dynamic flight and feeding behavior

– Wolves moving through open winter terrain

– Ravens, foxes and other opportunistic species

Inside the hides, I’ll provide quiet guidance when needed — helping refine framing, anticipate action and adjust settings based on light and behavior.

After returning to the hotel each afternoon, there is time to rest and reset before dinner.

Evenings are dedicated to:

– Image discussions and group reviews

– Technical adjustments for the next session

– Strategy refinement based on real results

– Individual feedback when needed

These conversations are not formal classroom lectures — but structured analysis sessions designed to sharpen your awareness and decision-making.

Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5

After breakfast, we dedicate the final morning to deeper review and individual mentoring.

Each participant will have the opportunity for:

– A focused 1:1 session

– Portfolio feedback

– Workflow discussion (file management, selection, editing direction)

– Technical troubleshooting

We will analyze key moments from the previous days and discuss how to build on what you’ve learned moving forward.

The workshop concludes late morning, followed by transfer to Warsaw Airport for departure.

Camera Equipment

This workshop is built around photographing wolves and white-tailed eagles in winter conditions from professional heated hides. Sessions are long, light conditions can be challenging, and moments can unfold very quickly after hours of stillness.

Camera Bodies

A mirrorless or DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses is essential.

Fast, reliable autofocus and strong high-ISO performance are important for winter conditions. Modern full-frame bodies such as Canon R5/R6/R3, Sony A1/A9/A7 series, or Nikon Z6/Z8/Z9 perform particularly well — but any recent DSLR or mirrorless body can deliver strong results if properly configured.

Before the workshop, we will review autofocus setup and optimize your configuration for fast-moving wildlife in snow.

Lenses for Wildlife

A medium-to-long telephoto is strongly recommended. For wolves and eagles, we suggest:

  • 100–400mm or similar as a versatile baseline

  • 300mm or longer for tighter portraits

  • 400–600mm for close details and shy individuals

Long focal lengths are particularly useful for white-tailed eagles in flight and for more distant wolf encounters.

A 70–200mm can be useful if animals approach closer than expected, but it should not be your primary lens. A wide-angle or standard zoom (24–70mm / 24–105mm) is optional for environmental scenes and winter atmosphere, but do not expect to use it for wildlife.

Other Essentials

  • Extra memory cards and batteries – Expect to shoot several thousand images per day during active sightings.

  • Laptop + external SSD – For daily backups and image review. Paolo will guide you through safe workflow and storage practices throughout the tour.

  • Camera support – Each hide includes built-in screw mounts for your tripod head. We strongly recommend bringing either a gimbal head or a fluid video head. Alternatively you can use a beanbag. No tripod is needed.

Clothing

We recommend wearing layered clothing to adapt to changing temperatures throughout the day during long sessions in the hides. While there are no hikes involved, hides will be accessed either by car or through short walks in the forest, so comfortable and weather-appropriate gear is important. Please be sure to pack a rain jacket as we may occasionally need to walk to or from the hide in wet conditions.

A full list of recommended clothing and gear will be included in the detailed information PDF you’ll receive prior to the workshop.

Need Gear Advice?

If you’re unsure what to bring or are thinking about renting a lens, Paolo will be happy to give tailored advice based on your experience level and creative goals. Don’t hesitate to get in touch before the trip—we’re here to help you arrive prepared and confident.

YOU WILL RECEIVE A MORE DETAILED INFORMATION DOCUMENT WITH ALL THE INFOS ABOUT WHAT TO PACK 90 DAYS BEFORE YOUR TRIP. THE DOCUMENT WILL INCLUDE SPECIFICS OF WHEN AND WHERE TO MEET, GEAR AND CLOTHING RECOMMENDATIONS AND ALL THE VARIOUS INFORMATIONS YOU MIGHT NEED.
